“It is a time of mourning for everyone, a time to remain silent,” Di Bari said via Reuters. “Both the President of the Region [Luca Zaia] and the Mayor [Luigi Brugnaro] have asked the premier’s office to declare three days of mourning, with flags at half-mast throughout the region.”
The cause of the crash is still being investigated but it’s believed that the 40-year-old driver may have been unwell before the tragedy. “We presume the driver may have fallen ill,” Zaia told Rtl 102.5 radio, per the news outlet.
