Aftermath will center on on the 23rd - century Michael Burnham and the crowd of the Discovery leave behind when they were wedge to throw away themselves nine centuries in the future to overcome the sinister A.I. Control during the last — leave Spock , Pike , and the rest of the 23rd Century life they ’d get it on behind them .
The series will be not just Pike as he attempts to negotiate the uneasy peace treaty between the Federation and L’Rell ’s Klingon Empire — still comparatively raw after that whole “ so we weregonna try and genocide you , here ’s the detonating equipment to a bomb we left in your homeworld ’s core ” thing from time of year 1 — but Spock as well , as he make up the exit of Michael , after he ’d only really justreunitedwith her . Which means unveil some new secrets about Michael ’s bringing up , both with her secret Section 31 agent parent and her life on Vulcan with Spock and his family .

It ’s no Spock / Pike spinoff show like some people want after Mount and Peck ’s fantabulous performances , but it ’s a scratch line . And , interestingly , the fact that these character are being checked in on in a tie - in comic rather than in the next time of year of the show itself feel like a polarity that the series is truly committed to go into its bold newfangled assumption . Leave Spock and Pike ’s stories to be explore elsewhere : Discovery itself has a whole new humans to see for itself !
