In just two hours , the first 24 days of reserve to Star Wars : Galaxy ’s Edge snap into hyperspace .
Earlier today , Disneyland in Anaheim , CAopened up reservationsfor Star Wars : Galaxy ’s Edge , thehighly anticipated Modern composition park expansionopening May 31 . Due to the high-pitched requirement , Disney decided thatfor the first several weeks , people who wanted to go to would need a specific meter - slot reservation . They could get them either by booking a Disneyland hotel or by brave out a lottery , which was what happened today .
The reservations , which were free and open to the public ( so they did n’t technically “ deal ” out ) , were made online as the great unwashed piece specific date and four - hr prison term slot . Each person ( reservations were confine to one for each Disney bill ) wait in an online waiting sphere for their chance to pick out remaining slot ; they could also add up to six guests . The process began at 10 a.m. PST and took five minutes for some and over an 60 minutes for others . By rough high noon Pacific Standard Time , all the slots were gone .

Of naturally , not all promise is lost for fans who want to be among the first to visit Galaxy ’s Edge and did n’t get one of these reservations . This particular reservation system only covered May 31 through June 23 . If you hold a hotel way during those dates , you could still get a reservation — and starting June 24 , the land will be open to all meeter of Disneyland . At that point , they ’ll utilize a virtual queuing system , much like you ’d “ Fastpass ” a drive in the park .
Also of note is that when Galaxy ’s boundary opens on May 31 , it wo n’t be fully operational . Fans will be able to fly the Millennium Falcon on Millennium Falcon : Smugglers Run and enjoy all the other agreeableness of the land , but the second ride , Star Wars : acclivity of the Resistance , wo n’t open until later this twelvemonth . The same goes for Galaxy ’s Edge in Orlando , FL , which opens August 29 . That common will not have a standardised reservation system when it opens , though .
“ We are delighted that our guests are as mad as we are about the May 31st opening move of Star Wars : Galaxy ’s boundary , ” Disneyland spokesperson Liz Jaeger said . “ We ca n’t waitress for them to gossip , and we look forward to delivering a great guest experience both now and after June 23rd , when reservations will no longer be required to call Star Wars : Galaxy ’s Edge . ”
