The Hollywood Reporterhas Holy Writ that Smith will both asterisk in and produce the adaptation of the first in Marcus Sakey’strilogy of novels , work in tandem with longtime collaborator Akiva Goldsman . Except , it ’s not the first time that Smith has tried to get an adaptation of the serial off the terra firma . Back in 2014 , alongside director Julius Onah and screenwriter David Koepp , a potential adaptation of the novel was in the works at Universal and Legendary . According to THR , however , this new attempt with Goldsman is still in its other stages ; it ’s presently uncommitted to a studio and will presumptively be working off a Modern book .
What ’s not change is that Smith will also asterisk in the undertaking . Set in a populace where , since the ‘ fourscore , a single percent point of the Earth ’s population has been born with especial magnate — dubbed Brilliants — Brilliance follows Nick Cooper , who would be play by Smith in this potential version .
