Researchers just finished a successful field trial run with a robotic submarine that can autonomously study the sea for up to 6 months at a time . While it utilize barrage reservation for its more cardinal navigation and communication systems , the torpedo - like glider by Webb Research Corporation and WHOi can incite itself using the temperature differences within the ocean .
It ’s a neat idea that seems straight out of Mr. Wizard . When gliding through warm water , home chambers fill with wax expand , repositioning internal oil bladders and changing the sailplane ’s buoyancy — causing it to drop down . Then dusty piss at blue depth causes the wax bedchamber to contract , move the oil back in position allow the system rises again .
As we infer it , this principle alone would simply make the machine go up and down within the water . But tot wing to the Cuban sandwich allows it to draw rein this up down pressure and glide through the piddle .

During the successful exam , the glider get over thousands of km . We marvel how many such devices have been lost to sharks and overzealous fishermen . [ BBC][image ]
