Black Panther directorRyan Coogler has write an article expressing his feelings on shootingthe cinema ’s sequelin Georgia , in the wake of the land senate ’s decision to vote for restrictions to voting rightswith Senate Bill 202 .
Writing forDeadline , Coogler ’s guest column discusses why he ’s choose not to boycott the state — which has historically been home to many Marvel Studios shoot , among other Hollywood productions , thanks to Georgia ’s tax incentives promote the state as a hub for the film and television diligence . “ Having now speak with voting rights militant in the state , ” Coogler writes in part , “ I have come to sympathise that many of the citizenry engage by my film , including all the local seller and business we engage , are the very same people who will yield the brunt of SB202 . ”

Coogler grew fond of Georgia while shoot the first Black Panther movie , but he does fundamentally oppose what is happening in the state , and acknowledge this greenback is aimed at disfranchise voter of color , peculiarly Black the great unwashed . “ As an African - American , and as a citizen , I oppose all attempts , explicit and otherwise , to shrink the electorate and bring down admission to the vote , ” Coogler take down .
