Guardians of the Galaxy does n’t come out until next month , but we ’re already pretty sure that Chris Pratt is our new space - opera house hotness . And if thing had turned out differently , he could have starred in Star Trek . Or Avatar .
This weeks ’ big Entertainment Weekly screen story about Pratt observe an odd titbit — he test out for the roles of Captain Kirk in the Star Trek reboot and Jake Sully in Avatar , but did n’t make the cut . He severalize the interviewer that the Avatar audition was specially demeaning :
“ They said they need somebody that says ‘ that matter , ’ that ‘ It cistron ’ … I walked into that way knowing I did not have that thing , and i walked out thinking I would never have that thing , probably . ”
After that , he decide to do nothing but character roles — and he turned down the chance to strain out for Peter Quill , a duet time . Thank good he relented — and this probably worked out for the sound . He would have been a great Kirk , but he wait like he ’s going to own the office of Star - Lord .
