Some internet site just become a part of your bit , a habit . You determine for updates five , 20 , 60 times a mean solar day . You hit refresh more times than you’re able to keep track of . It seems a lot like an dependance . And sometimes you need to depart , for your own well being .
There are plenty of site that have dropped off my radar over the year , but only one that I purposefully quit . In college , I spent a lot of clip on a certain machine meeting place . Like , stay - up - half - the - night - in - a - flamewar amounts of metre . Every reckoner I used in a day , whether in my residence hall , at the library , or in the research research laboratory where I worked , had this situation bookmarked .
After a particularly het up even of trolling and counter - trolling , I bombed an important exam the next day . I gave my then - girlfriend my login information , ask her to commute my password to something I ’d never think , and I did n’t attend back .

Well , I kinda looked back . In fact , I by all odds pussyfoot a few peek at the site in the first weeks after my ultimatum . Without being able to interact , though , the thrill was gone . It was about as enticing as looking in the windowpane of your favorite bar . When you ca n’t be a part of what ’s going on inside , you just end up feeling creepy-crawly .
Curiosity and a niggling nostalgia moderate me to search up some of those old forum posts recently . They were dumb . But more importantly , they were a monolithic waste of time . Literally nothing I write in all those hour has impacted my living since then in any mensurable way . Which makes me wish I ’d spent that meter alfresco .
So what sites have you had to cut out of your life ? Do you sense better without that drug - scallywag refresh button habit gnawing at you ? Or do you sort of miss it ?
