I do n’t know if the Venom movie , star Tom Hardy , is going to be good . I hope it is . But I do know how it looks : like a eldritch , incoherent series orphan , in vain attempting to capitalize on the popularity of Spider - Man in a fictional universe where Spider - Man is n’t actually accessible as a character .
I found myself drawn tothis fan lagger , byBilly Crammer , for the way it tries to unpack and change that idea . It ’s an attempt , in devotee work , to repair a vision that seems miss . To do so , Cramer add footage from a variety of other films , stitching together repulsion with activity with , yes , a few glimpse of Spider - Man , to make a conception for Venom that sour , illustrating a hypothetical version of the pic ’s suppose Lethal Protector assumption that function as advertised .
That ’s why I enjoy fan trailers . trailer themselves are utter picayune documents of a film that does n’t exist , an advertising trick that pulls together all the best , most interesting moments of a movie to make the audience eager to see a version of the movie that does n’t really exist outside of that preview . That put-on works , so we go see the movie , or we accept that it ’s a trick but still go for the real affair will be worthwhile . Fan lagger , meanwhile , at their best use that trick as a means of storytelling and commentary . trailer are always about movies that do n’t exist , they say . Well , what about this one ? Would n’t that be cool ?

In the case of this Venom trailer , yeah , I think it would .
