Fanboys , a semisweet drollery about five friends searching for the significance of life in Star Wars , is an uneven tribute to the bonds that make scifi lover a community rather than just a marketing niche .

Fanboys , for all its flaws , actually made me exclaim . That ’s not because I am a wuss , but because unlike so many movies about death , Fanboys explore how everyone ’s lives revolve around funny end that are n’t prosperous to sum up in a Hallmark card . What ’s so moving is that Linus ’ friends understand that what he needs to conk out happy is n’t some dazed , generic showdown with spiritualty or some Benjamin Button sort of crap .
