For a show that people are call “ the new Lost , ” you ’d think that FlashForward would ’ve started their first episode in a way that did n’t , well , seem exactly like a Lost rip - off . On the positive side : Joseph Fiennes > Matthew Fox .
badly : Opening the first episode with your leading gentleman waking up , then wandering around to discover that he ’s in the heart of a cataclysm site … ? Did n’t wedo this already ? The deja hey ! is not helped then thin out from that shock into a flashback , just like Lost , but with a form of address card helpfully announce that it ’s four hr earlier for the easy confused and stupid . Thankfully , the easily confused need not be too interested with this show .

GIBBONS ” – Hello , Watchmen shoutout ) and red bowed stringed instrument hear to connect everything together , scrawling paranoid banker’s bill like “ WHO ELSE roll in the hay ” ( on a calendar page so we can helpfully see that it ’s April 29th , 2010 ) before guys with laser sights , three - star tattoos and facemasks come in . And just before we get the shootout , we ’re suddenly back in the present , and it ’s the same scene we started with : guy cable on fire and everything a disaster .
Around the worldly concern , everyone ’s waking up and conjointly wondering WTF : Mark and Demetri find their terrorists , baby-sitter buy the farm to console her abandoned bang ( who melodramatically says that she daydream there were no more good days . Jeez , pessimistic pre - adolescent ) , Olivia see that falling benumbed during an operation is a speculative thing , and Bryce – in a scene far more creepily effective than any amount of CGI - whirlybird falling out of buildings – decide to be a doctor after seeing the stiff of surfer swim in the water system . Luckily , mysterious disaster does n’t preclude cliches , as we discover when Demetri tells Mark to go and check on his wife and we ’re treated to a slow motion scene of Joseph Fiennes running through metropolis street fill up with stereotypical chaos : expect ! Thankfully , that ’s disrupt by news reports saying that it was a worldwide outcome , thankfully clarified by a random looker-on telling the audience “ My God … It ’s the whole humans ! ”

In a very overnice embodied confluence room , everyone in the FBI has been given expositionary duty , remind us ( again ) that this happened around the Earth and telling us the Vice President of the United States died as a solution when Air Force Two crash before Mark finally gets the show on the road by admit that he “ was having a memory , but it was n’t of the past … it was of the futurity . ” Thankfully , expositionary boss sums it up again for the audience : “ So you ’re say what ? That everyone ’s cognizance jumped into the future ? ” It ’s around this time that I bid that my awareness could jump into a show that did n’t finger the need to repeat itself so much .

Meanwhile , the boy who mysteriously know Olivia ’s name to begin with ? His dada appear , and he ’s the piece in Olivia ’s vision ! ZOMG , or something ! But not as ZOMG as Mark ’s future friendship bracelet being made by his daughter , which has to be important because the medicine distinguish us so . But even that pale in comparability to the fact that not everyone collapsed at the exact same time – One individual in Chicago was awake … and wearing a inglorious trenchcoat .
