Europe ’s “ right to be forgotten ” ruleshave been around for a while , but they pretty much just applied to Europeans who want to hide embarrassing or wrong content about them . Now a Gallic court say that Googleneeds to go a step furtherand use the rules to all of its domain .

In the past , the “ right to be bury ” only applied to specific nation ’s domains . So you could get a link removed from Google.fr but not Google.com . Now , after a months - long battle between Google and Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés ( CNIL ) means that the google.com links must come down too . The agency first ordered the search giant to respect the rightfield to be block rule around the humankind back in May and has last reject Google ’s entreaty . CNILsaid in a statement :

Contrary to what Google has submit , this decision does not show any willingness on the part of the CNIL to apply French constabulary extraterritorially . It simply requests full honoring of European legislation by non European participant offer their service in Europe .

Starship Test 9

It ’s still a little bit unclear exactly how this will touch on Google users outside of Europe . However , it ’s very clear that France is serious . If Google does n’t employ the rules to all of its domain , the company will face amercement of up to € 300,000 per crime .
