The Queen of Hip Hop Soul, 48, is appearing on Monday’s episode ofThe View,and doesn’t hold back when weighing in on the hot topic controversy that erupted after this month’s Grammy Awards — when fans critical ofCardi B‘s best rap album win began trying to ignite a withNicki Minaj.
In Blige’s view, that needs to stop.
“I think it’s negative because we’ve suffered enough amongst a male-dominated society and a male-dominated business. We suffer enough amongst each other,” the 48-year-old says. “When you see us trying to do something, at least try to bring us together. At least try to lift us up together.”
“I think that it’s best that we continue to lift each other up,” she adds. “There’s enough everything for everyone. Why can’t Cardi win the Grammy? There’s enough for everyone. Why can’t she have her moment?”

Blige isn’t the first to come to Cardi’s defense.
On Tuesday,Lady Gaga— whoearned three Grammy winsthis year — defended Cardi, tweeting a supportive message to the 26-year-old “I Like It” rapper and encouraged social media users to “lift her up.”.
“It is so hard to be a woman in this industry. What it takes, how hard we work through the disrespectful challenges, just to make art,” shewrote on Twitter.
“I love you Cardi. You deserve your awards. Let’s celebrate her fight,” Gaga, 32, added. “Lift her up & honor her. She is brave.”

She was particularly frustrated with the BET Network who had brought up Minaj in a since-deleted tweet digging at Cardi’s triumph.
“However, I’ve been taking a lot of s— today. I’m seeing a lot of bulls— today and I saw a lot of s— last night, and I’m sick of this s—. I work hard for my motherf—ing album,” she angrily stated.

“I remember last year when I didn’t win for ‘Bodak Yellow’ and everybody was like, ‘Cardi got snubbed,’” she recalled. “Now this year’s a f—ing problem?! My album went two-time platinum, my n—, and every chart that there was, my album was always Top 10. Number one album, as well.”
After the passionate video was posted — and subsequently deleted — Cardi then shared another cleaner reflection on her Instagram about all the work that went into makingInvasion of Privacy.“My album went #1 and spend [sic] 21 weeks straight onbillboard top ten! Every song is gold or platinum or higher. I listen to my album and I cry because I know the hell I went thruu doing the album is always a bittersweet memory,” she wrote.
“THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT SUPPORTED ME AND LISTEN. I’m thankful and grateful and again thank you to all the artist that gave me a feature,” Cardi added.
Two days afterdeactivating her Instagram account, Cardi was back on the social media platform to promote her new single withBruno Mars.
“Ok so I’m back from retirement to announce I have a brand new song coming out Friday at midnight with @brunomars,” she wrote alongside aphoto of the pair.
The rapper also added a little dig at those who claimed she was undeserving of Sunday’s award and reminded them that she and Mars, 33, were both proud Grammy-winning artists.
“#twogrammywinningartist 🏆🏆” she wrote in the hashtag at the end of the post.
