The “Prince of Darkness,” 75, praised the rapper (whose real name is Faheem Rasheed Najm), 39, onX (formerly known as Twitter)after he shared a video of him performing the 1970Black Sabbathclassic “War Pigs” on stage, alongside a caption featuring the song’s lyrics: “Generals gathered their masses 🎸.”
“This is the best cover of ‘War Pigs’ ever,” Osbourne declared in a quote tweet.
He added: “Why didn’t you guys call me?”
T-Pain delivered an awestruck reply to Osbourne’s poston Wednesday, writing, “You’re always invited. Top of the list, every time!! Thank you so much. Means a lot coming from the greatness himself 🙇🏿♂️.”
Hecommented again on Thursday. “First thing I said was “wow” 🙏🏿,” the “I Like Dat” performer wrote. “This is an honor and the greatest form of validation. Thank you brother@OzzyOsbourne.”
T-Pain originally covered “War Pigs” on his covers albumOn Top of the Covers, which he released in March 2023.
The project featured the hip-hop artist’s renditions of songs like Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” andSam Smith’s “Stay with Me.”
“It got put on hold for a bit, but now that I’m independent, I’m able to do whatever I want to do through Nappy Boy Entertainment and this is something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time. These songs are not what you’d expect when you hear that T-Pain is doing a covers album and that is what I think is cool about it,” he said in the statement.
T-Pain previously showcased on his natural voice when he competed in the first season of the Fox reality competition seriesThe Masked Singerin 2019.
